What a Bathroom Remodel Includes
From a hall bath refresh to a full primary bath, these are the pieces a Mobile bathroom remodel is built from.
Tub-to-Shower Conversions
The old tub comes out and a tiled walk-in shower goes in, with a low curb or no curb, a niche, a bench if you want one, and glass instead of a curtain.
Waterproof Tiled Showers
Our recent tiled showers are built on the Schluter Kerdi system: a waterproof membrane on the walls, a bonded drain, and sealed corners and seams. The tile is the finish. The membrane keeps water out of the wall.
Tubs and Surrounds
New alcove tubs with a tile or one-piece surround in hall baths, and freestanding soaking tubs in primary baths.
Vanities, Tops and Mirrors
Single and double vanities, quartz or cultured marble tops, undermount sinks, faucets, mirrors, and lighting, with the plumbing moved when the vanity moves.
Ventilation and Electrical
Exhaust fans ducted all the way outside, not into the attic, plus GFCI outlets, vanity lighting, and new switches. In Mobile's humidity, that fan is the first defense against mold.
Accessible Bathrooms
Curbless and roll-in showers, grab bars on blocking, comfort-height toilets, handheld showers, and 36-inch doorways. We also build VA SAH and SHA grant projects.
An Accessible Primary Bath in North Mobile County
The old whirlpool tub came out and the room was rebuilt around safe, easy use: a walk-in shower, grab bars, a fold-down seat, and a freestanding tub.

| Project detail | What we built |
|---|---|
| Location | North Mobile County, Alabama |
| Contract and schedule | Signed in December 2025. The bathroom was finished in late May 2026. |
| Floor | Whirlpool tub removed. Where it sat, we framed the floor opening with 2x10 joists, 2x6 blocking and 4x4 posts set in concrete, then laid new 3/4 inch subfloor |
| Shower | New shower end wall, blocking for grab bars, hexagon wall tile, a hex mosaic floor, a recessed niche, a fold-down seat, a handheld shower on a slide bar, and grab bars |
| Tub, vanity and toilet | Freestanding tub, a double vanity with one roll-under side, quartz tops, a bidet toilet, mirrors, and vanity lights |
| Access | Two doorways reframed to 36 inches, a pocket door between the bedroom and bath, a closet shelf at a reachable height, and a new HVAC branch to the bathroom |
This house sits on a raised floor, not a slab, so removing the whirlpool meant rebuilding the floor framing underneath before any tile went down.
Also Finished: Two Bathrooms in Grand Bay
In the primary bath the tub came out for a walk-in shower: Schluter Kerdi waterproofing, floor-to-ceiling porcelain, a mosaic floor, two niches, a grab bar, a handheld wand, and a sliding glass door. The second bath got a new tub with a tile surround, a new vanity, and new floors. The new shower drain sat in a different spot than the old tub drain, so we cut and re-poured the slab. Signed in late May 2026 and finished in early August, about 10 weeks including permits and tile lead time.
What a Bathroom Remodel Costs in Mobile
Bathroom cost depends on the size of the room, the shower, and whether plumbing moves. Your in-home estimate replaces these ranges with one fixed price.
Typical Price Ranges
| Finish level | Hall or guest bath | Primary bath |
|---|---|---|
| EssentialsQuality materials, current footprint kept | $9,000 to $16,500 | $16,500 to $27,500 |
| CustomTile shower or tub surround, new vanity and top, upgraded fixtures | $16,500 to $27,500 | $27,500 to $50,500 |
| LuxuryCurbless or walk-in shower, frameless glass, double vanity, layout changes | $27,500 to $46,000 | $50,500 to $78,000 |
Ranges come from our own sold bathroom jobs on the Gulf Coast, calibrated in July 2026. They include demolition, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, plumbing and electrical, ventilation, permits, and cleanup. Our last four completed bathroom contracts ran from about $6,600 for a hall-bath refresh to about $39,300 for two full bathrooms.
What Moves the Price
Tile and Waterproofing
A floor-to-ceiling tiled shower costs more than a one-piece surround, and it should: the waterproofing behind the tile is where the labor goes.
Moving the Drain
Most homes in West Mobile and the county sit on a slab. Turning a tub into a shower with the drain in a new spot means cutting and re-pouring concrete, like we did in Grand Bay.
Glass and Fixtures
Frameless glass, thermostatic valves, and body sprays add up. A quality valve and a handheld shower on a slide bar are where most people should spend.
"We have worked with many contractors and this is the first company where work went smooth and there was no issues with the workmanship. Repaired everything the way it should be no cutting corners."

From Estimate to Final Walkthrough
Every bathroom remodel runs through one contract and one project manager. You make the decisions. We carry the schedule, the trades, the permits, and the inspections.
Step 1. Free In-Home Estimate
A project manager measures the bathroom, checks the subfloor, the drain, and the wiring, and asks who uses the room and how.
Step 2. Written Scope and Fixed Price
Every task, allowance, and exclusion in writing with one fixed price, including an allowance for what might be under the old tub.
Step 3. Selections, Then Ordering
Tile, the shower system, the vanity, and fixtures are chosen and ordered before demolition, so the bathroom is not torn out while you wait on glass.
Step 4. Permits
We file with the department that has your address: Build Mobile inside the City of Mobile, Mobile County Inspection Services for unincorporated addresses like Theodore, Semmes, and Grand Bay, and the building departments of Saraland, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Prichard, and Citronelle inside those cities. Kitchens and bathrooms that touch plumbing or wiring need permits, and we pull them.
Step 5. Build With Daily Updates
Your project manager runs every trade and inspection and updates you on each active work day. Rot or a bad drain under the tub becomes a written change order you approve first.
Step 6. Final Walkthrough
We walk the finished bathroom with you, finish the punch list, and leave it clean, with warranty paperwork and product information in hand.
"Great people, great work and great experience. Great communication by William Fields. Work was done on schedule and exactly as stated. I will use these guys again!"

Remodeling a Bathroom in Mobile
Older Homes in Midtown and Spring Hill
Homes built before the 1970s often hide cast-iron drains, ungrounded wiring, and framing that is out of square. We look for those at the estimate and put an allowance in writing, so what we find behind the wall is already planned for.
Slab Homes in West Mobile and the County
Most newer homes in West Mobile, Tillmans Corner, Theodore, and Semmes sit on a slab. Moving a drain means cutting concrete, and we price that up front when the design needs it.
Gulf Coast Humidity
Mobile is one of the wettest cities in the country. We duct bath fans all the way outside and use moisture-resistant board where water is, because humidity finds every shortcut.
We remodel bathrooms in Mobile, West Mobile, Midtown, Spring Hill, Tillmans Corner, Theodore, Semmes, Saraland, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Grand Bay, Irvington, and Dauphin Island.

Bathroom Remodeling Questions in Mobile
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Mobile?
Our ranges run $9,000 to $27,500 for hall and guest bathrooms and $16,500 to $50,500 for primary bathrooms at the Essentials and Custom levels. Luxury primary baths with a curbless shower, frameless glass, and layout changes run up to about $78,000. Your in-home estimate replaces the range with one fixed price.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Plan on roughly 2 to 4 weeks of work in the house for a hall bath and 4 to 8 weeks for a primary bath with a tiled shower. Our recent two-bath remodel in Grand Bay took about 10 weeks from contract to finish, including permits and tile lead time.
Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?
Yes. The tub comes out, the drain moves if needed, and we build a waterproofed tile shower with a low curb or no curb, a niche, and glass, like the primary bath we finished in Grand Bay this summer.
