What We Build

What a Kitchen Remodel Includes

Most kitchen remodels in Mobile combine the same pieces. Your goals and budget decide how many of them change.

01

Cabinets

New stock, semi-custom, or custom cabinets, or a refresh of the boxes you have with new doors or paint. We set them level on floors that are rarely level and scribe them to the walls.

02

Countertops

Quartz, granite, and solid surface, templated after the cabinets are set so the stone fits the room, not the drawing.

03

Backsplash and Tile

Tile backsplashes from subway to full-height slab, set on a flat wall with the outlets moved to sit right in the tile.

04

Layout Changes

Moving a sink to an island, opening a wall to the living room, or adding a pantry. If a wall is load-bearing, we bring in the engineer and carry the beam in the price.

05

Plumbing, Electrical and Lighting

New appliance circuits, under-cabinet and recessed lighting, GFCI outlets where the code requires them, and supply and drain work for the sink, dishwasher, and ice maker.

06

Floors, Trim and Paint

Tile, luxury vinyl plank, or wood that runs under the new cabinets, new baseboard, and paint, so the room is finished when we leave.

What Changed in This Kitchen

New cabinets and hardware with painted white base cabinets under stained uppers, quartz counters with an undermount double sink, a tile backsplash, a new appliance package, new plumbing and electrical fixtures, and new floors and baseboard.

The contract was signed in late January and the kitchen was finished in early May. Most of that time was cabinet lead time, which is why we order before we tear anything out.

Midway through, the owners chose a better cabinet line. It went into a written change order with the price stated before the order was placed.

What a Kitchen Remodel Costs in Mobile

Kitchen cost depends on size, finish level, and how much of the layout changes. Your in-home estimate replaces these ranges with one fixed price.

Typical Price Ranges

Finish levelCompact
under 120 sq ft
Standard
120 to 200 sq ft
Large
over 200 sq ft
EssentialsQuality materials, current layout kept$18,000 to $32,000$27,500 to $46,000$41,000 to $64,000
CustomSemi-custom cabinets, new counters, some layout change$32,000 to $50,000$46,000 to $78,000$64,000 to $100,000
LuxuryFull custom cabinets, high-end appliances, layout redesign$50,000 to $78,000$78,000 to $120,000$100,000 to $165,000

Ranges come from our own sold kitchen and remodel jobs on the Gulf Coast, calibrated in July 2026, and include demolition, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, plumbing and electrical, flooring, permits, and cleanup. Appliances are included only when you ask us to supply them.

What Moves the Price

01

Cabinets

Cabinets are usually the largest line in a kitchen. Stock, semi-custom, and custom lines can differ by tens of thousands of dollars for the same room.

02

What Is Behind the Walls

In older Mobile homes, a kitchen remodel can expose cast-iron drains or wiring that has to be brought up to code. We look for it at the estimate and carry an allowance in writing.

03

Moving the Sink or a Wall

Keeping the sink, range, and walls where they are is the biggest saver. Moving a sink on a slab means cutting concrete, and removing a bearing wall means a beam.

How It Works

From Estimate to Final Walkthrough

Every kitchen remodel runs through one contract and one project manager. You make the decisions. We carry the schedule, the trades, the permits, and the inspections.

01

Step 1. Free In-Home Estimate

A project manager comes to your home, measures the kitchen, checks the plumbing, wiring, and floor, and asks how your family uses the room.

02

Step 2. Written Scope and Fixed Price

You get a written scope with every task, allowance, and exclusion listed, and one fixed price. Compare it line by line with any other bid.

03

Step 3. Selections, Then Ordering

We walk you through cabinets, countertops, tile, and fixtures, then order everything before demolition so the crew is not waiting on a backorder mid-job.

04

Step 4. Permits

We file with the department that has your address: Build Mobile inside the City of Mobile, Mobile County Inspection Services for unincorporated addresses like Theodore, Semmes, and Grand Bay, and the building departments of Saraland, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Prichard, and Citronelle inside those cities. Kitchens and bathrooms that touch plumbing or wiring need permits, and we pull them.

05

Step 5. Build With Daily Updates

Your project manager runs every trade and inspection and updates you on each active work day. If we open a wall and find a problem, it becomes a written change order you approve first.

06

Step 6. Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished kitchen with you, finish the punch list, and leave it clean, with warranty paperwork and product information in hand.

Local Know-How

Remodeling a Kitchen in Mobile

01

Older Homes in Midtown and Spring Hill

Homes built before the 1970s often hide cast-iron drains, ungrounded wiring, and framing that is out of square. We look for those at the estimate and put an allowance in writing, so what we find behind the wall is already planned for.

02

Slab Homes in West Mobile and the County

Most newer homes in West Mobile, Tillmans Corner, Theodore, and Semmes sit on a slab. Moving a drain means cutting concrete, and we price that up front when the design needs it.

03

Gulf Coast Humidity

Mobile is one of the wettest cities in the country. We duct range hoods and bath fans all the way outside and use moisture-resistant board where water is, because humidity finds every shortcut.

04

Historic Districts

Interior kitchen work in Oakleigh, the Garden District, and Mobile's other historic districts does not change the street view. If the plan adds or changes an exterior window or door, the Architectural Review Board signs off first, and we file that application.

We remodel kitchens in Mobile, West Mobile, Midtown, Spring Hill, Tillmans Corner, Theodore, Semmes, Saraland, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Grand Bay, Irvington, and Dauphin Island.

Our main office is on Rangeline Road in Theodore. Your project manager lives and works in Mobile County and can be at your house the same day.

The scope lists every task, allowance, and exclusion. The price changes only through a written change order you sign before the work happens.

Before you sign with anyone, look the license number up on the board's website and ask for a certificate of insurance. We send ours with the proposal.

★★★★★Google Review

"The contract was clear and all work was performed on schedule. A certificate of compliance was issued by a third party after inspection. It is refreshing to find a company like this."

FAQ

Kitchen Remodeling Questions in Mobile

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Mobile?

For a standard 120 to 200 square foot kitchen, our ranges run $27,500 to $46,000 at the Essentials level and $46,000 to $78,000 at the Custom level. Compact kitchens that keep the layout start around $18,000, and large luxury kitchens with layout changes run up to about $165,000. Your in-home estimate replaces the range with one fixed price.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Plan on roughly 6 to 10 weeks of work in the house once materials arrive. Cabinets can take several weeks to arrive, so we order first and tear out second. Our most recent kitchen took about 14 weeks from contract to finish, including the cabinet wait.

Do I need a permit to remodel my kitchen in Mobile?

We file with the department that has your address: Build Mobile inside the City of Mobile, Mobile County Inspection Services for unincorporated addresses like Theodore, Semmes, and Grand Bay, and the building departments of Saraland, Satsuma, Chickasaw, Prichard, and Citronelle inside those cities. Kitchens and bathrooms that touch plumbing or wiring need permits, and we pull them.

Can I live in the house during a kitchen remodel?

Yes, most families do. We seal the work area with dust walls and protect the floors from the door to the kitchen. Plan a temporary kitchen in another room with the refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee maker.

Do you remodel kitchens in older and historic Mobile homes?

Yes. Older homes in Midtown, Spring Hill, and the historic districts are common for us. Interior kitchen work does not need Architectural Review Board approval; changes to exterior windows or doors do, and we file that application.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. The in-home estimate is free. Call our Mobile office in Theodore at (251) 305-7282 or send the form on this page.
