You apply for the SAH or SHA grant through the VA. Once approved, your VA coordinator is assigned to your case. You can call us at any stage — even before approval — and we'll answer your questions
We meet with you at the home. We listen to what you need, assess the existing structure, and develop a clear picture of the modiBcations required to support your speciBc disability.
As a VA-registered contractor, we work directly with your VA coordinator. We handle the construction side of the process so you and your family don't have to manage it alone.

Both can be used to hire Wise Builders as your contractor.
Yes. We are a VA-registered contractor. Once your grant is approved and a VA coordinator is assigned, we coordinate directly with them on your behalf throughout the construction process. You don’t have to manage the back-and forth between us and the VA.
The modifications depend on your specific disability and what the VA determines is necessary. Common projects we complete include wheelchair ramps, roll-in shower conversions, widened doorways and hallways, accessible kitchen modifications, flooring changes, grab bars and safety features, and in some cases additions to the home. We assess your situation and build a scope that fits your actual needs.

Applications are made through the VA at va.gov. Your VA benefts coordinator can also help you apply. Once approved, your VA coordinator will work with you to begin the adaptation project — that is when you engage Wise Builders as your contractor.
