Wise Builders Roofing and Renovations is a licensed, bonded, and insured design-build contractor for luxury kitchens, spa-grade bathrooms, whole-house renovations, home additions, and ADUs, all under one contract and one project manager.
Because we are also a roofing and exterior contractor, we build inside and out, from the shingles to the baseboards. The kitchen, the addition, the siding, and the roof over it all run through one team, so nothing falls between two companies.
From our Theodore headquarters and our downtown Foley office, we cover Mobile County, Baldwin County, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast from Gulfport to Pascagoula. Call (251) 305-7282 for a free in-home design consultation.

Wise Builders Roofing and Renovations is a design-build roofing and remodeling company established in 2022, headquartered in Theodore, Alabama, with a second office in Foley. We hold Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board residential builder license #28471, and we are bonded, insured, and BBB Accredited.
The company is built on a simple observation. The roof and the remodel were rarely the hard part for homeowners. The not knowing was. Who is in charge today, what the final number will be, and when the crew will actually be back.
Wise Builders opened in 2022 as a roofing contractor on the Mobile side of the bay. Roof replacement, storm restoration, and insurance claim work filled the first year, and Atlas Pro certification and FORTIFIED roofing followed.
The remodeling side grew out of the roofing side. Homeowners who trusted us with the roof kept asking whether the same team could handle the kitchen, the bath, or the addition.
So we built the design-build side around a team with more than a decade of Gulf Coast building experience. It runs under the same license, the same contract, and the same project managers as the roofing work.
We then opened a second office at 105 W Camphor Ave in downtown Foley, so Baldwin County homeowners have a local address instead of a truck that crosses the bay after storm season.
A contractor is only as good as the people who show up. These are the people who will be on your project, by name, so you know who to call.

"Jim Brock is the best project manager ever! He constantly communicated with me about the materials, build and timeline. No stones were unturned! Exceptional work by his team."
Marcus Mitchell, Google review, November 2023
Three promises hold every Wise Builders project together, from a one-day roof repair to a six-month whole-house remodel.
You get the same named project manager from the first consultation to the final walkthrough.
Jim Brock, Graham Brock, William Fields, Nathan Ivy, or John Hagan writes the schedule, runs the trades, files the permits, and sends you an update on every active work day.
Your estimate is a firm number locked before demolition or tear-off.
We collect a 50% deposit tied in writing to specific work and materials, and the balance follows written milestones you approve as the work is completed. Any change becomes a written change order you sign before the work happens.
You know your start date, your milestones, and your finish date on day one, with permit review time already built in.
Then we run a comprehensive final walkthrough and keep working until you sign off, backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
The best remodeling company near you is the one that can take responsibility for the whole house, not just the room you called about. On the Alabama Gulf Coast that means a contractor who holds a state builder license, builds to the 160 mph wind design, and can put a FORTIFIED roof over the kitchen it just finished.
Most companies do one half of that. Roofers do not build additions. Remodelers sub out the roof to someone you never meet. Wise Builders does both under one contract, and that is the whole argument.
Design-build under one contract means one company designs, permits, engineers, and builds your project, and stands behind all of it. When the same team owns the roof and the interior, the roof tie-in on your addition, the flashing over your new bay window, and the attic insulation above your remodeled bath are one job, not three.
A sub-out remodeler hires a separate roofing company, a separate framer, and a separate designer, then tries to keep them on one schedule. Here is what that difference looks like on a real project.
| Question | Sub-Out Remodeler or Roof-Only Contractor | Wise Builders Design-Build |
|---|---|---|
| Who builds the roof on my addition? | A roofing sub you never met, on their schedule | Our own Atlas Pro Certified, FORTIFIED roofing team |
| Who do I call when the roof leaks over the new kitchen? | Two companies pointing at each other | One project manager, one phone number |
| How many contracts do I sign? | Two or three, each with its own deposit | One contract, one 50% deposit tied to written scope |
| Who pulls the permit? | Often left to the homeowner or split between subs | Your project manager, with Build Mobile, Mobile County, Baldwin County, or your city |
| Who handles the insurance claim after a storm? | Usually nobody on the remodeling side | Our storm restoration and roof insurance claim team |
| Can I get a FORTIFIED roof and a remodel in one project? | Rarely, and never under one warranty | Yes, under one contract and one timeline |
| Who updates me? | Whoever shows up that day | Your named project manager, every active work day |

Roofing is where Wise Builders started, and it is still the trade we are known for on both sides of Mobile Bay. We are Atlas Pro Certified, a FORTIFIED roofing contractor, and a storm restoration and insurance claim specialist, and every roof inspection is free.
A roof on the Alabama coast has to hold against 160 mph design winds, shed close to 70 inches of rain a year, and survive a hurricane season that has already put this coast to the test. Ours are built for exactly that.
Residential roofing covers every shingle, metal, and flat roof system we install on Gulf Coast homes, from a first inspection to a finished, warrantied roof. Our crews are Atlas Pro Certified and trained to the FORTIFIED Roof installation standard.
See residential roofing servicesRoof repair fixes the leak, the lifted shingles, the failed flashing, or the storm damage without replacing a roof that still has life in it. We start with a free inspection and tell you plainly whether repair or replacement is the better spend.
Schedule a roof repairRoof replacement is a full tear-off and rebuild of the roof system: decking repair, sealed deck, underlayment, drip edge, flashing, ventilation, and new shingles or metal. Most residential replacements finish in one to three days on site.
Plan a roof replacementMetal roofing, in standing seam or exposed-fastener panels, is the longest-lasting residential roof on the coast and a natural fit for FORTIFIED construction. We install it on new roofs, re-roofs, and additions that need to match an existing metal roofline.
Compare metal roofing optionsFORTIFIED roofing is a roof built and documented to the IBHS FORTIFIED Roof standard: a sealed roof deck, ring-shank nails on a tighter pattern, locked-down edges, and a third-party evaluator who certifies the work. It is the single most valuable upgrade a coastal Alabama homeowner can make, and it earns a state-mandated wind insurance discount.
Get a FORTIFIED roofStorm restoration is the full recovery of a home after wind, hail, or hurricane damage: emergency tarping, damage documentation, the insurance adjuster meeting, and the rebuild. Because we remodel too, we can restore the interior water damage under the same contract as the roof.

| Roof System | Typical Lifespan on the Coast | Wind Performance | FORTIFIED Eligible | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Architectural asphalt shingle (Atlas) | 25 to 30 years | Rated up to 130 mph with enhanced attachment | Yes, with sealed deck and ring-shank nailing | Most homes, best value, enhanced Atlas Pro warranty |

| Exposed-fastener metal | 25 to 40 years | Very good with proper fastener schedule | Yes, with FORTIFIED fastener detailing | Workshops, porches, budget-conscious metal |
| Flat or low-slope TPO | 20 to 30 years | Good when fully adhered and edge-secured | Commercial FORTIFIED programs | Commercial buildings, flat-roof additions |

Exterior services are the systems that keep water out of the house and heat out of the attic, and they are the reason a roofing and remodeling company can call itself a whole-house contractor. Every service below runs under the same project manager model as our roofs and remodels.
James Hardie fiber cement siding in the HZ10 line is engineered for hot-humid, hurricane-prone climates. It does not feed termites, does not rot, and holds paint far longer than wood on a south-facing wall in August, which is why it is our default on additions and whole-house exteriors.
See James Hardie sidingVinyl siding is the budget-friendly exterior for rentals, workshops, and homeowners who want a low-maintenance finish without a paint cycle. We install it with the wind-rated fastening and trim details the coast requires.
Compare vinyl sidingGutters formed on site from a single run of aluminum have joints only at the corners and downspouts, so there is nowhere for water to work through. On a coast that sees close to 70 inches of rain a year, they are the difference between water moving away from the foundation and water pooling against it.
Get gutters installedPainting finishes every remodel and protects every exterior. We use coastal-grade exterior coatings that hold against salt air and UV, and interior finishes chosen for high-humidity rooms like baths and laundries.
Schedule paintingAttic insulation on the Gulf Coast is about keeping summer heat and humidity out, and it pairs with every roof replacement because the attic is already open. Proper insulation and ventilation lower cooling bills and protect the roof deck from moisture.
Ask about attic insulationA skylight brings daylight into a kitchen, bath, or hallway, and the flashing around it is the most common leak point on any roof. We install skylights as part of a roof or remodel so the flashing is ours to stand behind.

The Alabama Gulf Coast is one of the hardest places in the country to build a house that lasts. It combines 160 mph design wind speeds, mapped flood zones, a hot-humid climate, and the most destructive termite in North America, all within a few miles of salt water.
A contractor from an inland market can build a beautiful kitchen here and still get the structure, the moisture, and the permit wrong. This is the part of the job that decides whether the work is still sound in fifteen years.
| Gulf Coast Condition | What It Does to a House | How Wise Builders Builds for It |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mph ultimate design wind speed (Mobile County, ASCE 7) | Lifts roof decks, peels shingles, breaks the load path at the roof-to-wall connection | Sealed roof decks, ring-shank nailing, Simpson Strong-Tie straps and hold-downs, engineered roof tie-ins on every addition |
| Hurricane Sally, September 16, 2020 | Category 2 landfall at Gulf Shores with 105 mph sustained winds and close to 30 inches of rain in parts of Baldwin County | FORTIFIED roofs, which cut claim frequency 55% to 74% in the University of Alabama's Sally study |
| Hot-humid climate (IECC Zone 2A) | Moisture drives into walls from outside, cupping floors and feeding mold | Zone 2A vapor detailing, closed-cell foam where needed, ventilation sized for humid air, crawl space encapsulation on raised homes |
| Formosan subterranean termites | Colonies in the millions eat sills, joists, and framing in a single season | Fiber cement siding, treated sills, inspection of every opened wall, contingency lines on older homes |
| FEMA flood zones AE and VE | Elevation Certificates, freeboard, and the 50% substantial improvement rule | Flood review during the estimate, Elevation Certificates ordered early, budgets that respect the 50% rule |
| Salt air within miles of the Gulf | Corrodes fasteners, flashing, and exposed metal | Stainless and hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, coastal-grade coatings, standing seam metal where exposure is worst |
Mobile County publishes an ASCE 7 ultimate design wind speed of 160 mph for Risk Category II homes. That number sets the fastener schedule, the header sizing, and the window ratings on every roof, addition, and structural remodel we build.
A continuous load path is the chain of hurricane straps, hold-downs, and anchor bolts that ties the roof to the walls and the walls to the foundation. Our roofing crews and our framing crews work from the same drawings, so the chain is completed rather than broken where a new roof meets an old wall.
Hurricane Sally made landfall at Gulf Shores on September 16, 2020 as a Category 2 hurricane with 105 mph sustained winds, and it stalled long enough to drop close to 30 inches of rain on parts of Baldwin County. It left a checkerboard of damaged and undamaged homes across both counties.
The University of Alabama's Center for Risk and Insurance Research studied more than 40,000 insured coastal properties after the storm for the Alabama Department of Insurance, including 7,417 FORTIFIED homes.
FORTIFIED homes had 55% to 74% fewer claims and 15% to 40% lower claim severity than conventional homes, and their loss ratios fell 51% to 72%. That is the difference between a tarp in October and a roof that never needed one.
A FORTIFIED Roof is not a product. It is a documented installation method: a sealed roof deck under the underlayment, 8d ring-shank nails on a tighter pattern, locked-down drip edge, and a third-party FORTIFIED evaluator who inspects and certifies the work before the designation is issued.
FORTIFIED Silver adds protected openings, impact-rated or shuttered windows and doors, and reinforced gable ends. FORTIFIED Gold adds a continuous load path from roof to foundation, and it is the level that produced the biggest claim reductions in the Sally study. A whole-house remodel or addition is the natural time to reach it.
Alabama law requires insurers to offer wind mitigation discounts for FORTIFIED homes, and in the coastal counties those discounts run up to 35% on wind coverage. On a Gulf Coast wind policy that is often the largest single line on the premium.
The Strengthen Alabama Homes program, run by the Alabama Department of Insurance and funded by insurance industry fees rather than taxpayers, pays up to $10,000 toward a FORTIFIED Roof on an owner-occupied single-family home, with no income limit. Funds are committed first come, first served in scheduled application sessions by county.
The next scheduled sessions are Mobile County on October 6, 2026 and Baldwin County on October 8, 2026, both at 9:00 AM. Ask your project manager to help you prepare the application before the window opens.
The coast sits in IECC Climate Zone 2A, the hot-humid zone. In Zone 2A the job of insulation and vapor detailing is to keep moisture out of the wall, not in, which is the opposite of what many inland crews learned.
Formosan subterranean termites came through the Port of Mobile after World War II, and Mobile is now one of the most heavily infested cities in the continental United States. A mature colony can number in the millions, several times the size of a native colony.
That is why a porch column can go soft in one summer. We inspect sills, rim joists, and bottom plates the day the drywall comes off, and every estimate on an older coastal home carries a contingency line for what we find.
Large parts of Theodore, the Dauphin Island Parkway corridor, Bayou La Batre, and the Eastern Shore sit in FEMA Zone AE or VE. If a remodel reaches 50% of the home's market value in a flood zone, the whole home has to be brought to base flood elevation plus freeboard, so we run that math during the estimate, not after demolition.
"Wise Builders recently renovated our bathroom (floor, walls, ceiling, trim, vanity, vent, outlets) and did a fantastic job! Not one time did I have to ask them to go back and fix something that was not right. They were also very helpful in finding the best solution when we encountered some unforeseen issues."

A Wise Builders project is a six-step design-build process that starts with a free visit and ends with a final walkthrough you sign off on. Your dedicated project manager owns every step, whether the project is a roof replacement, a kitchen, or a whole-house remodel with a new roof on top.
We measure the space, look at the existing structure, and listen to how you actually live in the house before we talk numbers. On a roofing call we walk the roof and the attic, photograph everything, and leave you a written report you keep whether or not you hire us.
You receive a written scope of work that defines every task, material, allowance, and exclusion, plus a fixed price and schedule. Keep ours next to any other bid you collect and compare line by line. The 50% deposit is tied to that written scope, and the balance follows milestones you approve.
We finalize drawings and guide shingle or metal color, cabinetry, counters, tile, flooring, windows, siding, and fixtures to fit your budget and the coast. Any beam sizing, foundation change, or wind-load design goes to a licensed Alabama structural engineer for a stamped drawing.
Your project manager files the permit with the office that has jurisdiction over your address. Inside Mobile city limits that is Build Mobile. Unincorporated Mobile County addresses like Theodore go through Mobile County Inspection Services. Unincorporated Baldwin County goes through Baldwin County Building Inspection.
Incorporated cities run their own building departments. Foley, for example, reviews permits through the City of Foley Building Department on McKenzie Street, and Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort each have their own. We know each office's review window and build it into your timeline.
Tear-off or demolition starts only after the permit is posted. Your project manager coordinates every trade, schedules every inspection, protects your home with tarps, dust barriers, and floor protection, and sends you an update on every active work day.
If the roof deck or the walls reveal rot, termite damage, or outdated wiring, the fix becomes a written change order you approve before the work happens. The price never moves any other way.
We walk the finished project with you, build the punch list together, complete it, and call for the final inspection or the FORTIFIED evaluator. The final milestone payment follows your sign-off, and the 100% satisfaction guarantee stands behind the work.
| Project | Typical On-Site Time | Permit Review to Plan For |
|---|---|---|
| Roof repair | Same day to 2 days | Usually none |
| Roof replacement (shingle) | 1 to 3 days | Roofing permit, a few days |
| Roof replacement (standing seam metal) | 3 to 7 days | Roofing permit, a few days |
| FORTIFIED Roof with evaluator | 1 to 3 days on site plus evaluator scheduling | Roofing permit plus evaluator visits |
| Bathroom remodel | 3 to 6 weeks | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Kitchen remodel | 4 to 8 weeks | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Home addition | 2 to 5 months | 2 to 4 weeks with engineering |
| Whole house remodel | 3 to 6 months | 2 to 4 weeks |

Wise Builders is a registered VA Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) and Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant contractor. Eligible veterans with service-connected disabilities use those grants for ramps, roll-in showers, widened doorways, and ground-floor bedroom and bath additions, and we complete the work to the VA's specifications and paperwork.
Because we build roofs and remodels under one license, a grant project can include the accessible bath, the ground-floor suite, and the roof over it in one scope.

Wise Builders runs the same process, the same project managers, and the same fixed-price contract out of two offices. Whichever side of the bay you live on, you get a local address and a team that has worked this coast since 2022.
From Theodore we cover the west side of Mobile Bay to the Mississippi line and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with the same project managers and the same process as the Foley office. Read more on the Mobile location page.
From Foley we cover the Eastern Shore, South Baldwin County, and the beach communities from Fort Morgan to Perdido Beach with the same project managers and the same process. Read more on the Foley location page.
Not sure which office is closer? Call either number and we will route your consultation to the right project manager in one conversation.
Both, under one license and one contract. Wise Builders started as a roofing contractor in 2022 and grew into a full design-build remodeler. The same team that replaces your roof can build your addition and finish your kitchen, with one project manager and one fixed price for all of it.
Yes. Wise Builders holds Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board residential builder license #28471, and we are bonded, insured, and BBB Accredited. Alabama requires that license on any residential project over $10,000, and we provide insurance certificates on request.
If you live in Mobile County, Baldwin County, or on the Mississippi Gulf Coast between Gulfport and Pascagoula, almost certainly yes. Our Theodore office covers the west side of the bay and Mississippi, and our Foley office covers the Eastern Shore, South Baldwin County, and the beaches. Call either office to confirm your address.
Emergency roof repair and tarping are same day or next day, and both offices answer 24 hours. A standard roof replacement usually starts within one to two weeks of a signed estimate. Remodeling projects start once selections are made and the permit is issued, typically two to six weeks after signing depending on the permit office and engineering.
Yes to both. Your project manager files every permit with Build Mobile, Mobile County Inspection Services, Baldwin County Building Inspection, or your city's building department, and schedules every inspection. On storm damage, we document the roof, meet your adjuster, and build the scope your policy covers.
Roof repairs and replacements are quoted after a free inspection. Kitchen remodels run $15,000 to $135,000 by tier, bathrooms $6,800 to $62,000, and additions $125 to $250 per square foot, or roughly $34,000 to $170,000 per project. Every project gets one fixed number in writing before work begins.
In most cases, yes. Roof replacements finish in one to three days with the house occupied. We remodel occupied homes every week using phased sequencing, zippered dust barriers, floor protection, and daily cleanup, so your family keeps living at home while the work moves forward.
